COOKING WITH MAGIC TRUFFLES: 2 EASY MAGIC TRUFFLES RECIPES

COOKING WITH MAGIC TRUFFLES: 2 EASY MAGIC TRUFFLES RECIPES

'Normal' truffles are a true delicacy. Some are so rare and beloved that the price per kilo can skyrocket. For instance, an enthusiast recently paid a tonne for a white truffle weighing not even a kilo. Magic truffles could also be said to have a distinct flavour. But you won't hear users call it a delicacy. Not exactly a fan of the taste of magic truffles? Then you can also incorporate them into a culinary delight or simple recipe. That way, you kill two birds with one stone: a tasty snack and the positive effects of a serving of truffles.

Food and truffles: can you combine?

Before you start cooking elaborately with magic truffles, it is good to know that it is not recommended to eat heavily before tripping. In fact, it is best to trip on an almost empty stomach. This way, the truffles work better, and you have much less chance of nausea.

Make sure you don't eat anything in the hours before the trip. Also avoid heavy meals earlier in the day. Lightly digestible, in other words. All the recipes with magic truffles we provide in this blog meet this criterion. They are light enough not to cause a fight with your stomach, but tasty enough to mask the taste of truffles.

Easy and tasty recipes with magic truffles

The first and most important tip when making a recipe with magic truffles: determine the dose per serving. Use our magic mushrooms & truffles calculator to determine how much you want to use in a serving. If you buy truffles from our shop, choose 'fresh'. Then you can choose from different dosages. Then all you have to do is choose your favo recipe and enjoy!

Recipe: Magic truffle Long Island Ice Tea

The Long Island Ice Tea cocktail is known for making you pretty tipsy very quickly. Not surprising when you look at the ingredients.... Vodka, rum, gin, tequila, triple sec; no mean feat! Ironically, there is not even tea in this cocktail. The name refers purely to its colour. The mocktail version is a whole lot healthier and is anything but heavy on the stomach. It contains cola, lime or lemon juice and tea - all ingredients that can actually help with gastrointestinal problems.

For this recipe, follow these steps:

  • Mix a portion of magic truffles with lemonade in the blender. Choose sugar-free lemonade with lemon flavour or iced tea concentrate, for example. Blend until it has become an even substance.
  • Add extra lime or lemon as desired, in the form of juice or slices of fresh fruit.
  • Finish with a splash of cola or Diet Coke and a heap of ice cubes.
  • You can mask the truffle flavour even better by adding cooled strong tea. Black tea is a good one as it is one of the strongest and most bitter teas.
  • Does this recipe still taste too much like magic truffles to you? Then add some extra lemonade syrup and/or fresh ginger and mint leaves.

Alcohol: no go in your magic truffle recipes

Alcohol, by the way, is not a must when you're on the magic truffles, so for the most part, leave those cocktail recipes aside. But of course, an easily digestible mocktail is a nice option. Because although eating during and before tripping is not smart, you will need to keep yourself hydrated. These recipes will please your taste buds and also give you a nice trip.

Magic truffles chocolates: also useful for microdosing

Have you bought a batch of magic truffles and want to microdose with them? Save yourself the trouble of constantly weighing out your truffles with our recipe for chocolates. With these, you can make enough microdoses in one go to last you a long time. But of course, you can also simply incorporate a trip dose into the chocolates. Also smart: incorporate a quarter of a medium trip dose of magic truffles in one chocolate. This way, you can more easily dose and steer your trip by taking something extra after 1-2 hours.

Very important is that you keep a close eye on how many grams of truffles you use and how many servings of truffle chocolate you make with them in total. Write this down clearly when you finish and store the chocolates, so you don't make awkward mistakes later.

Recipe: truffle chocolate

This is the easiest magic truffle recipe you will find. All you need is truffles and a chocolate bar. Follow these steps to make magic truffle chocolates:

  • After weighing, blend/mix/grind the truffles into as small a substance as possible. Preferably, it will be a powder so that it disappears easily into the recipe.
  • Melt the chocolate bar Au bain-marie. This goes like this: put a pan of hot water on the stove. Put a glass or metal bowl in this, containing the chocolate in pieces. This will allow the chocolate to melt slowly without burning.
  • Add the magic truffles to the melted chocolate and stir well.
  • Divide the melted chocolate mix over, for example, an ice cube tray and make sure all chocolates are the same size.
  • Store in the freezer. And again: label this batch so you know how strong each portion is.
