BREEDING PSILOCYBIN MUSHROOMS WITH A GROWKIT - PART 1

I'm Mike and this is my second mushroom growing report for 24High. However, this grow report is about Cannabis this time, but about Magic Mushrooms, also called (Magic) Mushrooms. After my previous blog about growing Cannabis, this blog will be about growing Magic Mushrooms. Anyway, let's talk about the shrooms now. What exactly are psilocybin Mushrooms? Literally translated, they are just mushrooms. However, when people talk about ‘’Mushrooms’’, it's often the ones that give you a good trip. Magic shrooms are mind-altering and hallucinogenic drugs. Unfortunately, the sale of a freshly harvested mushroom is no longer allowed in the Netherlands. Fresh Truffles, family of the Magic Mushroom (species), may be sold. Growing mushrooms at home is still allowed! That is why you can still enjoy a delicious Mushroom Trip. A growkit is quite easy to use, and I'm going to explain how to do it in this blog. How do magic mushrooms grow, and what are spores?

There are countless Psychedelic Magic Mushroom species, they grow in the wild in nature and have further developed and spread over millions of years. While cannabis and most plants do this with seeds, magic mushrooms do this with 'spores'. Experienced Mushroom growers also work with these spores to develop new grow kits. Spores are single-celled bodies with which the Magic Mushroom reproduces itself. These spores fall from the mushroom's hat, around the mushroom, creating a new generation of magic mushrooms. These spores transform into mycelium and from it grow new mushrooms.

How many psychedelic magic mushrooms are there in the world?

There are about 144 different types of Magic Mushrooms that contain psilocybin and/or psilocin. Both substances are psychoactive and can cause hallucinations, euphoria and other trip effects. You hardly need anything else for cultivation, namely a pair of sterile gloves for when you come into contact with the mushrooms and a mouth cap to shield your breath. Most mushrooms are very sensitive to bacteria and fungi. That's why this tip or, rather, an absolute MUST: wash your hands (and forearms) well and always keep your mouth cap and gloves on when you are working with the psilocybe growkit. All you need is a plant sprayer and a scalpel (or a sharp and sterile) knife. If it's cold in your area, you could use a heating mat. How do you grow magic mushrooms with an All-in-One Growkit from McSmart?

After ordering everything from 24High, it was delivered quickly. After receipt, I kept the Magic Mushroom Growkit in a clean fridge with 5 degrees. The Magic Mushroom set contains everything needed to start my first grow. The next day, I immediately started growing.

Instructions and explanations for growing magic mushrooms with a growkit

First of all, it is very important that you wash your hands (and forearms) well before taking the steps. I also recommend cleaning the grow kit itself with a clean cloth.

I carefully took the lid off and kept it. I will need this again shortly after. Poured lukewarm water into the grow kit until it was full and put the lid back on. I let this one soak for 1/2 hour.
After that, I opened the grow kit and carefully let all the excess water flow out.
I then filled the Grow Bag (the large plastic bag) with 250ml of lukewarm water and carefully placed the grow kit (with the lid off) in the Grow Bag. Make sure that the water in the Grow Bag does not go over the edge of the grow kit/grow kit. This layer of water in the Grow Bag is for high humidity, because mushrooms love this very much.
It is important that you leave the Grow Bag closed (by folding it at the top and closing it with the supplied paper clips) until you see the first Mushrooms growing.
You then place the Grow Bag with the grow kit in it in a place that does not receive direct sunlight, but where there is light. The ideal temperature for this room is 22 to 25 ºC. After 2-3 weeks, magic mushrooms will grow out of the grow kit. I started growing on Thursday 21 May and on 1 June I already saw the first Mushrooms emerge.
When the first Mushrooms appear, it is important to always keep the inside of the Grow Bag moist with a plant spray (1 or 2 sprays at a time). Please note: keep the mushrooms dry yourself, so do not spray on the grow kit! We also open the Grow Bag to spray with the plant sprayer to refresh the air again. Always do the above with your gloves on and your mouth mask on, just like I do. Magic mushrooms are, again, very sensitive to bacteria and fungi!
