With the step-by-step plan below, you can maximise your mushroom harvest. This way, you'll have more mushrooms and be able to enjoy a trip more often or with more friends.Before you start, make sure you have a clean environment to prevent diseases among your mushrooms. That means thoroughly cleaning the surface on which you place the grow box, keeping windows and doors closed to minimise the spread of airborne bacteria and thoroughly cleaning your arms and hands. Gloves and a mouth mask are also recommended.

1. Fill the grow container with water then put the lid on and let it soak for 12 hours, sealed.
2. After 12 hours pour the excess water out of the container
3. Remove the lid from the grow container. Rinse the lid and put it back in the cardboard box
4. Pour 150 ml of tap water into the grow bag/grow bag and place the place the grow kit in the grow bag. The open side of the bag should point upwards
5. Fold the open side of the growbag twice; do not cover the micron filter. Put the paperclip over the fold and make sure the remains closed.

Make sure that there is no direct sunlight shining on the growing container but that it gets a few hours of sunlight or artificial light per day. This is necessary so that the mycelium understands that they have reached the surface. Moisture is important for growing mushrooms, as is fresh air. Therefore, open the grow bag daily to spray atomised water on the grow bag.

Do not spray directly on the grow bag. Spraying against the inside of the grow bag is therefore the best solution. Do this with 1 spray. When the veil between the cap and the stem has just torn, it's time to harvest the mushrooms. Don't wait too long to do this as soon as you see this. You can pick a mushroom by turning it clockwise. Don't pull on it, you might damage the mycelium and you don't want that for the next flush.

Getting multiple flushes from your grow kit

The beauty of growing mushrooms on your own is that you can use the mushroom grow kit multiple times. The first two flushes, as it's called, are usually the biggest. Close the container by placing the lid on it, placing it in a clean plastic bag and closing it. Then place the container in the fridge for 12 hours. The fridge should be between 2 and 8 degrees.
