This year you can finally enjoy long nights full of music and dance. We've rounded up the best, cosiest and wildest festivals in Europe for you.
The best Psychedelic Trance Festivals in Europe in 2022
Psy-Fi Festival
- 14 to 18 September 2022
- Leeuwarden
In the Netherlands, a lot of festivals have been postponed until 2023 because of Corona, but luckily there is something to experience in Leeuwarden. The Psy-Fi Festival is held in the Green Star. It's this year's theme of caring for the planet, which is evident from the name “Guardians of Gaia”. It focuses on resource depletion, overpopulation and other threats to the planet.
Nevertheless, despite that serious tone, there is plenty to enjoy. You can listen to a variety of music styles, there is art and space to discover yourself. There are 4 stages where all kinds of famous and lesser known artists perform wonderful dance music, with cosmic overtones, to take you to higher spheres. You can come and camp at the Psy-Fi Festival (a place for your tent is included in the ticket), but you can of course also arrange a hotel or apartment in Leeuwarden.
Burning Mountain
- 23 to 26 June 2022
- Zernez, Switzerland
For a magical experience that combines music, parties, art and beautiful scenery, head to Zernez in Switzerland this year. Surrounded by the impressive Swiss Alps, the Burning Mountain Festival will take you over four days in a psychedelic experience. This year you will again be enchanted by the sounds of the finest progressive psytrance, from artists from all over the world.
In addition, there are also light shows, performance artists, flamethrowers and fire installations. The entire decoration of the festival ensures a total immersion in a magical world. The environment is also special. The Burning Mountain Festival takes place at 1450 meters above sea level, in one of the highest inhabited valleys in Europe. The surrounding mountains ensure that you will end up in higher spheres anyway. The village of Zernez is a 10-minute walk from the festival. You can spend the night in your tent (included in the ticket price, but there are also tents that you can rent) or you can book a hotel room in the village.
Own Spirit Festival
- 14 to 18 July 2022
- Baldellou, Spain
Travel a little further, but the Own Spirit Festival is definitely worth it. Baldellou is located about 150 km from Barcelona. The Own Spirit festival is known for its great combination of music, psychedelic culture, spiritual growth, dance and special sense of community. Everyone is welcome here, regardless of your age. There are even families with children who want to experience this process of transformation.
There are two stages, the Dancefloor and the Temple of Frequencies. Here, 24 hours a day non-stop, national and international DJs play their psytrance and psychedelic music. Think Ace Ventura, Green Beats, Ninesense and Om-Theory. There is also the Holistic Zone, a space where workshops, talks and performances take place that focus on healing and personal development. The Own Spirit Festival takes place in an idyllic natural setting, right next to a beautiful lake. A place for your tent is included in the ticket price, but you can also spend the night in the nearby village.

Tomorrowland Festival
- 15 to 31 July 2022
- Boom, Belgium
Our southern neighbors know what partying is all about. The Tomorrowland Festival spans three weekends: from July 15 to 17, July 22 to 24 and from July 29 to 31, 2022. It is the largest dance and music festival in the world. It is seen as the mecca of dance music and is therefore at the top of the bucket list for many fans. After having had to do without these kinds of parties for a number of years, it is high time to go to Belgiumë to go this summer. A light dose of magic mushrooms or truffles do well at a festival!
The lineup is well worth checking out, with music styles ranging from techno, drum and bass, trance, house, hardstyle, EDM and more. There are 10 stages, so something for everyone. In previous editions you could enjoy artists such as Armin van Buuren, Amelie Lens, Carl Cox and Tiësto. There are 20 different types of accommodations that can be booked, including a place for your own tent or a super luxury tent.
Waldfrieden Wonderland
- 11 to 14 August
- Stemwede, Germany
The Waldfrieden Wonderland was held for the first time in 1997. This makes it one of the oldest Psytrance festivals in Europe. Waldfrieden is held in the middle of the woods near Osnabrück, where a valley is transformed into a fairytale forest where anything is possible. Not only can you enjoy the many DJs, there are also performance artists, yogis and shamans. These give workshops that you can follow on one of the fields.
The music spans genres from psychedelic rock to techno. Artists such as E-mov, Electric Universe and Cosmosis have played at previous festivals. There are four dance floors, where you can let yourself go. On the beautiful fields between the trees, you can go camping (space for your tent is included in the ticket). But it is of course also possible to arrange an overnight stay in the village.
