HOW TO GROW TRUFFLES WITH A TRUFFLE GROW KIT?
Many people know you can grow your own mushrooms with a magic mushroom grow kit, but did you know you can also grow your own magic truffles? It's a great way to save money and still get a nice, high-quality end product. In this article, we'll tell you all about growing your own truffles with one of our truffle grow kits.
Why grow your own truffles?
There are several reasons for growing your own magic truffles. Firstly, it's great fun and satisfying to follow the growing process up close. Also, compared to magic mushrooms, growing truffles is a lot easier, as mushrooms are a lot more fragile and cannot withstand heat or dehydration. Thus, when bruised, they quickly turn a blue colour. Also, home-grown magic truffles contain a higher concentration of psilocybin than magic mushrooms. This, in turn, makes them more interesting for experienced psychonauts. You can also grind them up with a truffle grinder and use them in food or tea if you really don't like the taste.
Grow your own truffles
If you choose not to use a grow kit, growing your own truffles is a process that does take some time. Among other things, you need to create a growth substrate, sterilise and inoculate it, then the initial colonisation takes another two to four weeks. As self-growing requires some knowledge and experience, it can be a time-consuming process.
For if you want quick results, a truffle grow kit is a better option. With this, you will grow your first fresh truffles within just a few days. If you are patient and let them grow for another month or so, the yield can be as much as 10-20 grams more. However, it is important to make sure you never place the grow kit in direct sunlight and the kit is always at room temperature.
Fresh magic truffles or dried ones
If you want to be economical with your truffles, you can choose to let them dry. After all, you need twice as many fresh truffles for the same effect. An easy way to dry them is with a thermomat. For about twelve hours, lay them on kitchen roll or a tea towel on the heat mat. Set the mat to a low temperature, keep an eye on them and turn the fresh moulds over regularly. Actually, not much can go wrong.
You can also use a bamboo sushi mat, which will take about three days. When the outside is hard, they are basically dry. Do check that by cutting them. If they are not completely dry yet, they might go mouldy, which of course would be a real shame. It is best to vacuum-pack them and store them in the fridge. Then they will stay good for about 2-3 years. In an airtight container in a dark place at a low temperature, they will stay good for about 6 months.
